Irregular monsoons over an extended period have resulted in frequent water scarcity for the agricultural sector. While prompt relief in times of scarcity must be provided, long-term measures to ensure prevention of such situations must be taken.
Government has decided to implement multiple programs for water conservation in an integrated manner with convergence across all the concerned departments. ”Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan” has been launched to make Maharashtra drought free by 2019. We aim to make five thousand villages drought free in the 1st year of the Abhiyan.

We look forward to getting your suggestions on how the program can be further enhanced and implemented successfully

Following are suggestions for improving water situation:
Making RWH compulsory in Maharashtra
Maharashtra needs more lakes/ponds for RWH
Restore ground water by rainwater harvesting
Water quality testing in existing groundwater
Water quality (heavy metals) in agricultural water
Treating sewage water and reuse it for cleaning, agricultural and other purposes. If the quality of this treatment is good then water can be used for drinking purposes.
Cleaning all major rivers at war front.

Manoj Mishra : Personnel who worked in Yamuna cleaning (I am not sure if he works at present)
Ravi Agarwal
Naveen Chandra : Resident of Mumbai-Bandra. He as a secretary of 'Sealine CHS', developed a RWH for his society in which he is/was living. This made the society self sufficient for water supply. Similar model can be used in every housing society/homes throughout Maharashtra.

She with the government/municipality made rainwater harvesting compulsory in the city. Schools, houses and flyovers made to implement RWH. Also important is the anti-flood system, low lying areas made RWH hub so no flood can occur. RWH also installed in Governor's house, Assembly, CM's house and Secretariat. I think she can be a key personnel to help you out with details from governmental machinery view point and implementation of RWH throughout a city/state. Please consult her.

Dear Sir
Congratulation for making water transport arrangement by rail to draught effected area. My suggestions is as follows:
In order to solve water problem in most part of the Marathwada, the present scheme of water transport shall be continued. Heavy rain falls occurs in Mumbai, we can keep wagon's manhole and place them near rail platform shade so that these wagons get filled with water. Once they are filled water shall be transported to Marathawad to increase water table

Dear sir,
What I see as a solution for fighting drought is desalination of sea water by heating it by concentrating solar light on to a single point which vaporises water very fast . After this the byproduct we get is common salt which can be sold at low rate .

I urge the administration in Maharashtra and rest of India to think the option of desalination through Sea Water RO/MED technology as we have a long coastal sea area and the water can be easily desalinated and can be supplied to the rest of the state - regardless be it rain or drought - These experiments had been proven successful throughout the Middle East/Israel and they don't depend on Rain...We need to think over it and implement in ous country also.....Thank You
