Irregular monsoons over an extended period have resulted in frequent water scarcity for the agricultural sector. While prompt relief in times of scarcity must be provided, long-term measures to ensure prevention of such situations must be taken.

Government has decided to implement multiple programs for water conservation in an integrated manner with convergence across all the concerned departments. ”Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan” has been launched to make Maharashtra drought free by 2019. We aim to make five thousand villages drought free in the 1st year of the Abhiyan.

We look forward to getting your suggestions on how the program can be further enhanced and implemented successfully

So what? Finally all these products are luxury & not necessity of human life, whoever will afford costlier beer, wine & cold drinks etc. will buy & drink.

This will not have impact immediately, but definitely we will see significant increase in ground water level in coming 1-2 years after implementation!!

My idea is, now a days sea water is also drinkable by desalination processes through increased technologies. We must shift all Beverages Industry (mainly Breweries, Wineries & Cold drinks) to costal area from center of state & mandate them to use sea water only to make beverages. Of course it will be costlier to them, production cost will get high, and to customers also products will be costlier than now.

Our main hurdle is Beverage industry, which is taking Lakhs / Crs of litter water every day from natural resources / Government water supply (which can be used for better purposes!) to make cold drinks, Beers, wines, Mineral water etc. All products are Only Luxury items.

Honourable CM,
Water is basic need of life… basic need of every kind of business too. Few days back was news, because of drought government cut / reduced supply water to industries in Maharashtra.
But I think we can’t cut water supply to industries, as again it will directly affect to employment in state & that will lead to another problems!

Here, I would like to give an example of Singapore, where the government has to import water from other countries. They process this water so well enough; that the tap water is drinkable. In South Korea, where I have visited, I have not seen any water tank on any building and the water is supplied for 24x7. I would like to see this scenario not only in our state but in our country. Thank you for making us participate in the discussions.

Respected CM, I understand the need of water not only for agriculture but also for day to day life of common man. Rain water harvesting is not the only solution to increase the water level of soil. The problem of water may increase in future due to global warming. Like Nagpur pattern of Recycling of water, the same mechanism is to be applied for all the day to day life activities. The recycling process should be so perfect enough that the water coming out of it should be drinkable. 2 b continue
