July 1, 2016 was an important day in the history of Maharashtra. On this day, the State not only unleashed a mission, but also got an entry in the Limca Book of World records. The day saw a momentous campaign led by the people of Maharashtra of planting trees on a huge scale. Setting a huge record, the people planted 2.82 crore trees on a single day, giving hope to challenges like degradation of natural resources and habitats, pollution and climate change and boosting the morale of Maharashtra’s Forest Department.
